Kemerovo Region governor Tuleyev resigns after shopping mall fire

KEMEROVO, Apr 2 (PRIME) -- Kemerovo Region Governor Aman Tuleyev resigned on April 1 after a fire in a shopping mall in the city of Kemerovo took lives of 64 people.

“Aman Tuleyev has submitted a resignation from the post of the governor of the Kemerovo Region,” an official at the regional administration told PRIME. The press service of the administration later confirmed the information.

Tuleyev, 73, became the region’s head in 1997 and was reelected four times, his current term in office would have ended in 2020.
